The fact sheets (or briefing papers) on ethical dilemmas which QCEA has produced during the course of
2009/2010 attempt to take a common sense approach to some of the questions facing people who want to do the right thing for the environment, for climate change, but who are confused by the conflicting messages out there.

The car scrapping scheme was introduced in many countries across Europe as a measure
to mitigate the impact of the financial crisis on the automobile industry by claiming
to foster a greening of the economy at the same time. It rewards people who want to scrap their old

Does Photovoltaic make Sense from an Environmental Point of View?
PV is often looked at in terms of a cost-benefit analysis without sufficient emphasis
upon the environmental considerations. Although the economics of PV panels play a
significant part in an individual’s decision, environmental arguments should not be neglected. This paper aims to provide an introduction to the main issues around PV to help consumers
make an informed decision about PV for domestic use.

Train or Plain, Ethical Choices
Aviation currently represents around 2% of total CO2 emissions. There is a need to understand the cost that our flying habits are having on climate change. These issues are tackled in a full paper which explores the individual and policy implications of flying and train use has on climate change. There is also a A4 leaflet provided to give an introduction to this topic.

Livestock's Environmental Impact
The UNFAO estimates that Livestock production is responsible for 18% of global GHG emissions. There have been a number of reports highlighting livestock productions impact on resources such as oil, water and deforestation. Despite this, it does not appear in many public or political debate. QCEA have produced a full briefing paper offering policy recomendations upon the issue as well as an A4 fact-sheet to help guide Quakers around consumption choices.
